Designed by Fedor Tokarev, the TT30 pistol was based on the Colt 1911 design. Russian pistols seldom had the same effectiveness as their western equivalents, since the russian army seldom found pistols to be of much use.
As with almost any russian weaponry - from the time and up till today - it was easy to manufacture and could take whatever adverse conditions you could put it through and still fire!
